Local company receives patent for computer system that analyzes drill data
A local company has received a U.S. patent for a computer control
system that can analyze data about a wide variety of oil and gas well
drilling plans.
According to the patent, Scott Boone of Houston has invented for
Canrig Drilling Technology Ltd. a computer system that can rapidly
assess and compare the "progs," or well prognoses, oil and gas
companies use to evaluate their wells. Different companies use
different formats for their "progs," but Boone's system is designed to
read all different types and highlight important information.
The official patent number for the new invention is 7,860,593. It was
originally filed on May 10, 2007.
Canrig Drilling Technology is a drilling technology company that was
formed by the merger of Canrig and Epoch Well Services in 2008. Its
offices are located in the Cy-Fair area at 8223 Willow Place Drive
South in Houston.
