Cy-Springs grad McDonald hits two big three's to edge Texas Tech out by one point
Phillip McDonald, a 2008 Cy-Springs grad, hit two big three-pointers and scored 12 points to help New Mexico hold on to beat Texas Tech 61-60 on Wednesday night.
McDonald is third on the team in scoring at 12 points per game and leads the Lobos with 5.6 rebound per game.
Coming out of Cy-Springs, McDonald was rated as one of the top players in Texas. He was a four-star recruit listed among the top-100 players in the country by Rivals.com and Scout.com. McDonald was named the top shooting guard signee in the Mountain West Conference by Rivals.com. He was the district MVP and first team all-state after averaging 19 points as a senior while leading the team to a 32-7 record.
McDonald, born July 25, 1989, in Houston, is the son of Bruce and Ann McDonald.
