Defamation suit centers around Cypress assisted living community
A Houston-area man is suing after, he says, an Oregon resident made disparaging comments about his management of an assisted living community in Cypress.
Daniel Parish filed a lawsuit on Jan. 12 in the Harris County District Court against Darcie Hanson, alleging defamation, libel and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Parish says that on Oct. 23, 2010, Hanson attempted to sully Parish's good name by claiming that he is using his position, as indirect majority owner of Ainsley Courte in Cypress, to destroy the value of this assisted living community. According to the brief, Hanson stated that Parish was engaged in "operational embezzlement."
Parish is seeking actual and exemplary damages and court costs. He is representing himself in the suit.
