Cypress man claims tougher construction board in new U.S. patent
A Cypress man has received a U.S. patent for a new kind of construction board.
The board is made of magnesium oxide, magnesium chloride, a binding agent, wood shavings, recycled board scraps and water. In the patent, the man and his co-inventors claim that the material is more durable than commonly used materials such as Sheetrock plaster wallboard. They also write that it avoids the harmful effects of similar products based on silicates.
The official patent number for the new invention is 7,867,597. The patent was originally filed on Aug. 13, 2007, and is owned by a company called Jet Producs LLC.
Jet Products originally was based in Houston but its offices are now located in Wilmington, Delaware. The company makes several environmentally friendly construction products.
