Patient claims Cy-Fair eye doctors botched surgery

A former patient claims two Cy-Fair ophthalmologists were negligent in failing to properly treat a cataract in her eye.

Linda Kaderka makes the argument in a lawsuit against Dr. Joel Cohen, 1960 Eye Surgeons and Dr. Ann Chang-Godinich on Jan. 6 in Harris County District Court. Kaderka accuses the doctors of improperly performing a surgery to remove a cataract.

Kaderka says Dr. Cohen and Dr. Chang-Godinich failed to conduct a proper exam and failed to accurately evaluate her vision. As a result, she says they ordered a cataract surgery that was improper and unnecessary.

The former patient says the doctors performed surgery to remove a cataract from her left eye but the procedure was unsuccessful and had to repeated. She says the second surgery was also unsuccessful. Kaderka contends the doctors caused irreparable damage to the optic nerve and capsular sac during the surgeries.

Kaderka is asking to be awarded damages for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical disfigurement and impairment, loss of earnings and medical expenses. She also seeks punitive damages.

Attorney Ronald K. Lovett of Houston is representing Kaderka. They demand a jury trial.
