Improved computer server connections earn patent for Cy-Fair-area man
A technology to help computers more easily find servers on networks has earned a U.S. patent for a Cy-Fair-area man.
The software described in the patent allows computers to use multiple methods for finding a server in case security restrictions or other problems have disabled the default method.
The official number for the patent is 7,870,266 and it was originally filed on March 17, 2006. The patent is owned by the Hewlett-Packard Development Corp.
While its international headquarters is in Palo Alto, California, Hewlett-Packard's Houston office serves as the nerve center of its U.S. division. The offices are located in the Cy-Fair area at 20555 SH 249.
