Cy-Fair chamber launches online dialogue for U.S. 290 project
The Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce has launched social media campaigns on both Facebook and Twitter to discuss the U.S. 290 project.
The campaigns were established to start a channel of communication and keep both citizens and lawmakers aware of developments on the project. Residents of the Cy-Fair area and individuals who use U.S. 290 can take part at www.facebook.com/txus290 or www.twitter.com/txus290.
"At the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber, we are committed to helping the citizens who navigate U.S. 290 communicate with their local, state and federal elected officials,” said Mary Evans, president of the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber. “Twitter and Facebook are the easiest ways to start a dialogue and engage the issue. U.S. 290 is a major consideration for Houston; it’s vital to our growth and continued prosperity. I hope everyone will join the discussion on our social media sites."
Recognized on the list of the “100 Most Congested Roadway Segments in Texas” by the Texas Department of Transportation, U.S. 290 is ranked No. 12, with total improvement costs estimated to be $4.6 billion.
In addition to the activation of sites on Twitter and Facebook, the Chamber will launch two additional phases of social media features to facilitate communication on U.S. 290. The new phases will be operational within the next 45 days.
