Langham Creek HS grad Johnson cruises to second double-double
Langham Creek HS graduate Mercedes Johnson had a stellar game Saturday, but the University of Louisiana women's basketball team lost 57-52 to UALR.
Johnson, a junior power forward, earned her second double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and reeling in 15 rebounds. Johnson was 7-of-14 from the floor as she tallied her 19th double-digit contest of the year.
She is first on the team in scoring at 15.2 points per game and rebounding at 6.6 rebounds per game.
Johnson was named first team All-District for all four years of high school. She also earned All-Greater Houston honors for two years. Johnson averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game at Langham Creek.
Johnson, born on Feb. 5, 1990, in Houston, is the daughter of Yvette Ferguson.
