City election filing opens in Jersey Village
Jersey Village's general election will be May 14 and the ballot will include the positions of mayor and council members for places 2 and 3.
Current officeholders are Mayor Russell Hamley, Place 2 Councilman Rod Erskine and Place 3 Councilman Curtis Haverty.
The term for each position is two years.
Any person qualified to serve under provisions of the city charter may be a candidate for election to council.
Under the charter, candidates must be qualified to vote in city elections, must have lived in the city for not less than a year before the election and "shall not be in arrears in the payment of taxes to the city."
No one had filed by 4 p.m. Feb. 14. Filing will end at 5 p.m. March 14.
