Iraq War veteran's march across America travels through Cy-Fair area
The Staybridge Suites in Houston-Willowbrook will host Iraq War veteran Troy Yocum the weekend of Feb. 18.
Yocum will visit Houston during his "Hike for Our Heroes" campaign. Yocum is currently in the midst of a 7,000 mile hike across America, calling for $5 million to aid military families in need.
Traveling with his wife Mareike and dog Emmie, Yocum began his 16-month quest on April 17, 2010. He has already completed the western leg of his journey (he hiked all the way from Kentucky to California), and now he is walking back east through Texas.
“We are thrilled and honored to host Troy and his family during the Houston leg of his cross-country trek,” said Tim Graves, Staybridge Suites’ general manager.
Joining Yocum this weekend will be Mark Dolfini of “Standing for the Fallen” fame. Dolfini will stand at attention, possibly for up to eight hours, on Saturday, Feb. 19 while Yocum hikes around Houston to raise donations and awareness.
