Cypress Creek YMCA to host women's heart health seminar
Because of efforts like the "wear red for women" initiative, more and more people are becoming aware of the risk of heart disease in the female population (the leading cause of death amongst women in the U.S.).
What to do about that risk is another matter -- especially when the symptoms of heart attacks can be very different in women than in men.
The Cypress Creek YMCA will partner with St. Luke's Hospital at The Vintage to address these issues in a seminar to be held tomorrow. Dr. Waqar Khan, a board-certified cardiologist, will present general information on cardiovascular health, provide specific tips for disease prevention and address treatment options.
The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the YMCA's Shindeldecker Youth Facility. It is located to the left of the YMCA's main building at 19915 Texas 249 in Houston.
For more information and to register for the event, call St. Luke's Hospital at 832-534-5156.
