LSC-CyFair plans 'Hairspray' open auditions

Lone Star College-CyFair and Country Playhouse Theatre will hold open auditions on Saturday, March 5 and March 12, for their joint production of the musical comedy, "Hairspray."

Director Ron Jones will cast 45 actors of all ages and ethnicities. Those who audition must perform from memory an upbeat song from the musical comedy genre. They need to bring the sheet music for the song chosen. A pianist will be provided for the audition. In addition, a simple dance routine will be taught.

Auditions will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on March 5 at the Country Playhouse Theatre, 12862 Queensbury Lane, and again from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on March 12 at LSC-CyFair’s Main Stage Theatre, 9191 Barker Cypress. Rehearsals will alternate between both locations beginning May 9.

Performances will be held Thursday, July 14, through Saturday, July 30, at Country Playhouse Theatre and Thursday, Aug. 4, through Sunday, Aug. 14, at LSC-CyFair.
