Cy-Woods grad Justin Washington honored by Sports Illustrated
Andy Staples of Sports Illustrated recently named Cy-Woods High School graduate Justin Washington to his annual All-Two Star team. His comments from Sports Illustrated are listed below.
"DT Justin Washington, Arizona (two stars in class of 2009): Washington flew under the radar because his high school, Cypress (Texas) Woods, fielded its first varsity team in 2008. Still, Oklahoma State and Utah also offered scholarships.
"But Washington chose the Wildcats. After redshirting in 2009, the 275-pounder started nine games in 2010 and made several first team freshmen All-America lists after racking up 10.5 tackles for loss and six sacks."
Justin is the son of Son of Stacy Washington.
Washington was a 2008 unanimous First Team All-District 15-5A defense selection for the Cypress Woods Wildcats.
Washington played his junior varsity schedule out of the Houston limelight for two years.
He was named to the VYPE High School Sports All-Greater Houston defense for his "NFL butt, legs and motor."
Washington was honored at the 2008 Texas Bowl and selected for the inaugural 2008 Space City Classic All-Star football game, showcasing his talent in March 2008.
Justin is majoring in pre-business.
