Cy-Fair teacher seeks public's help in balancing the equation of math class participation
It's a simple math problem -- with more than 20 students in a
classroom and only one chalkboard, not everyone will have the chance
to come to the front of the room and solve a problem. But a local high
school teacher has a plan to change the equation with the
public's support.
The geometry instructor at Cypress Woods High School is seeking funds
for a project through DonorsChoose.org, a website that enables users
to directly provide resources for teachers in schools across the
country.
Geometry will be a more fun and engaging if every student
works through each problem and then the class can compare those
solutions, the teacher writes. She hopes to make this happen
by providing students with erasable white boards and tools like polygon blocks.
The teacher needs $446.45 to fund the project. Thus
far no donations have been received. The teacher estimates that her
project would immediately help 150 children, as well as future classes
of students. The request expires on March 22, meaning donors only have 19 days left to act.
