Cypress residents named in wrongful death suit

An estate is suing after a disabled family member died while living in a residential facility owned by a Cypress couple.

Norma and John Archer, on behalf of the estate of Guy Archer, filed a lawsuit on March 10 in the Harris County District Court against United Bible Fellowship Ministries, Julius and Madeline Glass of Cypress and Spring resident Leslie Norris, citing negligence, violations of the Texas Health and Safety Code and breach of contract.

The Archers say that Guy, a special-needs adult, died while living in a facility owned by Julius and Madeline Glass. They allege that the facility’s employee, defendant Norris, left Guy alone while he was eating, even though she wasn’t supposed to as he was known to “shovel his food.”

As a result of being left unsupervised, Guy grabbed his food, proceeded to eat and began choking, according to the brief. Attempts to save his life were ineffective.

The Archers are seeking all the damages to which they are entitled and court costs. They are being represented in the case by Houston attorney Michael Von Blon.
