Hayes back to lead potent Bobcat attack

Cy-Fair senior setter Kameryn Hayes, a Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association Top 30 preseason team selection, is expanding her game.
Hayes, a three-year starter, was transformed into a setter as a freshman by Cy-Fair coach Donna Benotti, and there are more changes on the way.
She's an accomplished setter and very experienced in running a 5-1 offense," Benotti said, and she's also a great hitter and blocker who has a great serve, and we're going to utilize her as a hitter and open up even more aspects of her game."
Another big plus is Hayes knows she doesn't have to do it alone.
Senior libero Krissy Ordemann, and a pair of juniors, middle blocker Kylie Schott and defensive specialist Kylee Mann, are returning starters, senior right side Ally Smith and junior outside hitter-setter Emily Wright are lettermen, and senior outside hitters Sarah Teel and Morgan Decarlo are varsity veterans prepared to step into regular roles.
The Lady Bobcats will go for a ninth straight playoff berth after last season's 33-10 overall mark, and a second place in district.
Cy-Fair stopped Leander in its postseason opener and fell to College Park in the second round.
There is definitely some heavy competition in our district," Benotti said. It's a battle every night."
Workouts started last week and included scrimmages at The Woodlands and Kingwood.
Cy-Fair opens the season at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Cinco Ranch, a state semifinalist last season.
Benotti is a member of the GHVCA's first board of directors.
The GHVCA is really going to help our sport," she said. It's a really good thing with benefits for coaches and players, and I'm proud to be able to be a part of it."
