Two local HS alums play solid games against Alabama in NIT
Two local high school graduates fought extremely hard, but New Mexico saw its basketball season come to an end with a 74-67 loss to Alabama in the NIT.
Cy Springs High School graduate Phillip McDonald Scored 12 points, grabbed two rebounds, dished out an assist and blocked a shot in the loss
McDonald was rated as one of the top players in the state of Texas playing at Cy Springs in 2005-08.
He was also a four-star recruit listed among the top-100 players in the country by Rivals.com and Scout.com, while also named the top shooting guard signee in the Mountain West Conference by Rivals.com.
McDonald was the district MVP and First Team All-state his senior season at Cy Springs in 2007-08.
He is the son of Bruce and Ann McDonald.
Chavez High School graduate Jamal Fenton scored seven points, assisted on six buckets, collected two steals, and pulled down one rebound in the defeat,
Fenton was rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com and Rivals.com entering his senior season at Chavez in 2008-09 for head coach Kevin Pullum. He was also ranked in the top-10 in the Houston area by RCSSports.com and top-20 in Texas by TexasHoops.com. He is the son of Hyron and Gail Fenton.
