Cy Woods HS alum Kat Moreno just misses no-hitter
Cy Woods High School graduate Kat Moreno took a no-hitter into the final inning before registering her fourth victory in a row in a 7-1 win over Texas Lutheran in college softball action.
Moreno was flirting with what could have been her first no-hitter until it was finally broken up by Katelyn Hoppel with one out in the bottom of the seventh.
Moreno went the distance for Concordia and improved her record to 8-4 on the season after firing a two-hitter. She allowed one run, which was earned, and fanned four batters. She has won her last four starts, allowing only five hits and two runs in that span.
Moreno was a four-year letter winner at Cy Woods High School. She captained the squad for two seasons and was named team MVP as a junior. Moreno was the 2008 Cypress Sun Player of the Year. She was named to the All-Cypress Sun Team and garnered 17-5A First-Team All-District honors as a pitcher in 2008 and 2009. Moreno was a Two-time All-Greater Houston selection, making the third team in 2008 and the second team in 2009.
Majoring in business, Moreno was born Feb. 20, 1991, and is theĀ daughter of Cecilia and Marino Moreno.
