TxDOT looks at changes to busy Cy-Fair intersection
The Texas Department of Transportation has begun considering whether to add
extra lanes to ease congestion at the intersection of FM 1960 and Eldridge
Parkway.
TxDOT's proposal consists of widening FM 1960 to four main lanes in both
directions, with two left-turn lanes and one right-turn lane in each
direction; and widening Eldridge's southbound side to three main lanes and
two left-turn lanes, on one of which will also allow drivers to proceed
straight.
There isn't a time line for the project yet, because funding hasn't been
confirmed, says TxDOT spokesperson Danny Perez. TxDOT held a public meeting
Thursday to get the public's input. "The comments were mixed and there was
no real consensus at the meeting," Perez says.
Perez says the next steps are to produce a summary of the meeting, then
proceed with a study of the proposed project's environmental impact. "Once
that process is complete, we can then start to purchase any right-of-way
that may be needed," he says. That right-of-way would likely be about 4.4
acres.
Residents can also send their comments on the project to TxDOT here.
