Teen driving, dual credit classes available at LSC-CyFair

Teens ages 15 to 17 can sign up now for Lone Star College-CyFair’s (LSC-CyFair) Teen Driver Education Program.

Classes are held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday from Tuesday, April 19, to Friday, May 13, at LSC-CyFair. The course covers road rules, road signs and laws to prepare the teens for the Department of Public Safety’s written exam. Other topics are car maintenance, effects of drugs and alcohol, laws and penalties for drinking and driving, emergency situations, basic driving procedures, road rage and insurance.

Students are required to purchase the Texas Traffic Safety Education Student Manual, which is available at the campus bookstore. Register in person in the Learning Commons.

LSC-CyFair, along with the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, will host an information session on Dual Credit on Tuesday, April 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

High school juniors and seniors can earn high school and college credit in classes such as English, biology, math, history, psychology, economics, speech and more. The classes are transferable to most public universities and colleges. Courses are available during two summer sessions at LSC-CyFair. Session one runs Monday, June 6 through Tuesday, July 12. Session two runs Thursday, July 14 through Thursday, Aug. 18.

The session will include information such as who qualifies, what courses are available, the application process, benefits of dual credit as well as a question and answer period. No reservations are required.
