Local gas station's convenience store passes Harris County food test with just one violation
Harris County food safety officials recently paid their regular visit to a gas station convenience store in the Cy-Fair area and gave it a passing score, noting just one violation.
The inspection of the store at the Valero station at 9403 FM 1960 W. occurred on March 3. The establishment was given three demerits out of a possible 100. A business must receive 20 demerits to be considered "of concern" and in need of a follow-up visit.
The three demerits were given for an issue with the store's hand-washing facilities. This problem is not on the list of violations most associated with food-borne illness by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to the county website.
The Valero store's performance on food safety examinations over the past year has generally been good; in its last inspection in July 2010, it received a perfect score.
