Woman sues Cy-Fair store after allegedly tripping over lawnmower
A Harris County woman is suing a Cy-Fair home improvement store after she allegedly tripped over a lawnmower.
Joyce Jeffcoat filed a lawsuit March 30 in Harris County District Court against Lowe's Store No. 555, Lowe's Home Centers Inc. and Lowe's Cos. Inc. She accuses her employer of negligence.
According to the lawsuit, Jeffcoat was working at the Lowe's on Highway 6 North in May 2009. While walking down an aisle, Jeffcoat says she tripped over a lawnmower that was left just outside of a doorway. Jeffcoat claims she hurt her hand and wrist in the fall.
Jeffcoat accuses Lowe's of negligence for failing to provide a safe work environment and for not warning employees of a dangerous condition. She is asking for an unspecified amount of money in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court fees.
Jeffcoat is represented by attorneys Joseph R. Corteguera and Robert A. Lynch Jr.
