Houston area's third-best gas price is in Cypress, but overall prices above average for metro, state
Gas prices in Cypress have inched above average for the Houston area, though they remain substantially lower than much of the nation's-–and one of the area's best deals can be found here, too.
The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded in Cypress was about $3.606 as of April 4. That number is based on an average of 32 local prices reported by users of gasbuddy.com. It's slightly higher than typical rates for Texas ($3.579) and the Greater Houston area ($3.594) but still more than a nickel below the average for the United States ($3.662).
Last week's Cypress price was about $3.491 per gallon for regular unleaded.
Despite the recent increase, some great deals on gas are still available. The Kroger store at 18030 FM 529 was recently reported as charging just $3.43 per gallon, which GasBuddy lists as the third-lowest price for the Houston metropolitan area. The lowest price listed at a regular station was $3.53, seen at the Valero station at 19940 Freeman Road.
The highest local price was $3.74, which was reportedly being charged at the Shell station at 15038 Mason Road.
