HS baseball: Cy Woods defeats Langham Creek
Cy Woods defeated Langham Creek in District 17-5A baseball action Tuesday.
The Wildcats, 5-4-0 overall and 3-2-0 in district play, won the game 2-1.
The game was tied 1-1 into the seventh inning.
However, with 2 outs there was a close force play at second, but the ball was dropped allowing the winning run to score.
Sophomore Casey Meisner struck out 10 Lobos in earning the win.
"Their pitcher did a tremendous job," Langham Creek coach Armando Sedeno said. "He was a 6-3, big ol’ sophomore. I didn’t know much about him coming in."
"It was a good game, a tremendous pitching matchup," Sedeno said. "Our offense didn’t get the job done tonight."
"This is the kind of game ... you have to say this is going to happen at some point," Sedeno said. "Very few teams are going to go undefeated, especially in our district. We know that we’re going to have to play well, because everyone is going to play well against us. We have to forget about it and keep doing what we’ve been doing (going forward)."
Junior Hayden struck out seven Wildcats in the loss for Langham Creek
Tuesday’s loss dropped the Lobos to 18-3-0 on the season and 7-2-0 in district games.
On Friday at 7 p.m. the Lobos will host Cy Creek, and Cy Woods will visit Cy Ranch.
