Cy-Fair resident sues over apartment fire
A Cy-Fair tenant is suing after her property was destroyed in an apartment fire.
Cy-Fair resident Mireya Buenrostro filed a lawsuit on April 5 in the Harris County District Court against Cherry Creek Apartments, alleging negligence.
Buenrostro says that on Jan. 23 she called the defendant to report an electrical problem, flames shooting from the vent in her apartment’s master bedroom. She claims the defendant explained it could do nothing to fix the problem until the next Monday.
According to the brief, Buenrostro’s apartment ceiling suddenly appeared red and sparkling, catching fire and destroying most of her property as well as the apartment.
Buenrostro is seeking all damages to which she is entitled, attorney’s fees and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Annie Basu.
