Three local HS grads do it again for Big Green
Three local high school graduates helped the Dartmouth Big Green to a 16-8 road victory at Quinnipiac in college baseball action on Wednesday.
Langham Creek High School graduate Jeff Onstott scored a run in the win. Onstott, a senior second baseman, is fourth on the team with 25 hits and fifth in batting at .305.
Onstott lettered all four years at Langham Creek for Coach Armando SedeƱo. He served as team captain his senior year. Onstott was Second Team All-District as a junior, First Team as a senior, and also the baseball student-athlete of the year for the Greater Houston area.
Jeff is majoring in psychology. He is the son of Jim and Mary Onstott.
Woodlands High School graduate Jake Carlson scored a run and drove one in as well. Carlson, a junior outfielder, is third on the team in batting at .319 and sixth with 22 hits.
Carlson played for Coach Eastman at The Woodlands High School. He lettered both his junior and senior years as the team won the District 15-5A championship; he was named District 15-5A MVP and a Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star. The Woodlands won the Texas 5A State Championship during his sophomore season.
Jake is the son of Daniel and Linda. His father played football at the University of Nebraska in the early '80s.
Houston Christian High School graduate Dustin Selzer drove in a run for the Big Green. Selzer, a freshman infielder, is third on the team in hitting at .333 and third in home runs with two on the season.
Selzer earned three letters for Coach Ron Mathis at Houston Christian. He led his team to a 5A District championship and a 35-10 record as a senior captain. Selzer was tabbed as the district and team MVP after his senior campaign, leading the Houston area in home runs. He helped his team to district championships as a sophomore and junior, plus a TAPPS 5A State Championship in that sophomore season.
Dustin is the son of Joel and Claudia. Also, he is the self-proclaimed biggest fan of the Houston Texans.
