Cy Woods and Atascocita HS grads lead East Texas Baptist to victory
Two local high school graduates led the way as East Texas Baptist jumped on Texas-Tyler in college softball action on Thursday. In the first three innings of game one, ETBU earned seven runs on the way to a 7-4 victory.
Cy Woods High School graduate Kristina Cordova had three of ETBU's 10 hits, drove in two and scored one in the win. Cordova, a freshman infielder, is fourth on the team in batting at .355.
Cordova played at Cy Woods for Cliff Bond from 2006-2010, where she was named Second-Team All-State and District 15-5A MVP. She was named Second-Team All-District and the team's Defensive MVP in 2008.
Atascocita High School graduate Alyssa Romero went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in the victory. Romero, a freshman outfielder, is second on the team in slugging percentage at .494, third in runs with 21 and fifth in hits with 28.
