Cy-Fair employer accused of defamation
A former employee is suing a Cy-Fair company after, he says, it lied to avoid paying unemployment benefits.
Pearland resident Rocky Boyer filed a lawsuit on April 8 in the Harris County District Court against Cy-Fair-area Diversified Thermal, alleging defamation.
Boyer says that after his employer, Diversified Thermal, let him go, it challenged the Texas Workforce Commission’s decision to grant him unemployment benefits by accusing him of stealing on the job.
According to the brief, at no point in time did Boyer steal from the company and, when fired, Diversified Thermal refused to give him an explanation.
Boyer is seeking actual and economic damages, attorney’s fees and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney John-Baptist Sekumade.
