Board approves election order for Nov. 2

During the regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Aug. 9, the Board of Trustees approved an election order calling for an election on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, for Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District Trustees, position Nos. 5, 6 and 7.
The returns of the election will be made to the CFISD Board of Trustees in accordance with state law, in which trustees will be elected by plurality. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes for each respective position will be declared the winner entitled to serve as trustee. As prescribed by law, the Board of Trustees may declare an unopposed candidate winner and cancel the election for that position.
Letters of intention were required to be filed either with the Secretary of the Board, Lida C. Woodul, or in the Superintendent's Office, 10300 Jones Road, Room 410, no earlier than 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 25. The deadline to file a letter of intent is Tuesday, Aug. 24, no later than 5 p.m. All candidates are required to sign the affidavit for those running for public office.
General early voting for the CFISD Trustee Election will be held Oct. 18-29. Early ballot applications and early ballot mail votes may be sent to the Harris County Clerk's Office, Attn. Beverly Kaufman, P.O. Box 1148 , Houston , Texas , 77251-1148 . Applications for ballot by mail must be received no later than the close of business on Oct. 26, 2010.
