Greens Bayou coalition conducting community survey

The Greens Bayou Corridor Coalition recently held public meetings to gather input on a master plan for the region.

During the public meetings, participants identified more than 100 potential projects, which included areas in need of cleanup and ideas for parks and trails.

Input gathered from the meeting and an 18-question survey will be used to guide the master plan for the Greens Bayou corridor. Implementing the actions recommended in the plan will depend on future funding availability from current and potential partners.

The goals of the planning process are to conserve the corridor's most important natural and cultural resources, create a diverse system of recreation opportunities, manage the corridor's natural and improved landscaping, foster a system of interconnected parks and trails that link neighborhoods and destinations, and assure that projects are sustainably designed and are maintained for years to come.

People who were not able to attend the meeting can go to greensbayou.org and complete the survey about outdoor amenities in the corridor. The deadline to complete the survey is Saturday, April 30.

Greens Bayou covers approximately 45 miles throughout Houston, Spring, Greenspoint, Jersey Village, Jacinto City, Galena Park, Humble and Harris County.
