William-Sonoma continues classes in August

Every Sunday in August beginning at 12:00 p.m., Williams-Sonoma at Willowbrook Mall will offer a complimentary technique class featuring a variety of cooking skills.
August classes include:
Sunday, August 15: The Art of Seasoning. This session focuses on enhancing favorite dishes with spices, adding distinctive flavor and enticing fragrance. Attendees learn the fundamentals of spices, including the best way to maintain freshness and how to combine spices to create new and exciting blends.
Sunday August 22: Lessons in Dairy. The class covers the basics of dairy, from assembling a cheese plate to preparing homemade butter and transforming it into savory and sweet spreads. Participants learn how to make fresh ricotta and how a few simple additions can turn whipped cream into a decadent topping.
Sunday, August 29: Knife Skills and Knife Sharpening. A sharp edge, the correct grip and proper placement of food are all essential components of good knife skills and are all demonstrated in this class. Participants learn how to slice, dice and chop and to make advanced cuts, including chiffonade and julienne. Each participant will receive one complimentary knife sharpening; limit one knife per customer.
All Technique Classes are held at Williams-Sonoma, located in the Sears wing. Technique classes are offered at no charge, but reservations (281-807-9809) are recommended to reserve class space, which is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to class date.
The retailer also hosts cooking demonstrations on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. The August demonstration schedule is:

Demonstrations are held in the kitchen at Williams-Sonoma. Shoppers are invited to stop by for any and all of the sessions. Reservations are not necessary.
