HS baseball: Cy Lakes defeats Cy Springs
Cy Lakes defeated Cy Springs in District 17-5A baseball action Friday.
The Spartans, 13-10-0 overall and 8-5-0 in district play, won the game, 16-0.
Will Cates hit a grand slam and Hunter McMaken hit a three-run homer in the victory. Joseph Murphy was the winning pitcher for Cy Lakes. The team will host Cy Woods on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Friday’s loss drops Cy Springs to 1-18-0 on the season and 1-12-0 in district play.
"Brenden Twomey was not as sharp as he was in the first game," Cy-Springs coach Scott Gierzak said of his starter. "Also, Cy Lakes swung the bats better. They swing the bats well."
Brenden Twomey was the losing pitcher for the Panthers, who will visit Cy Creek on Saturday at 2 p.m.
