Two local HS grads lead LeTourneau to victory
The LeTourneau YellowJackets jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and held off a late charge by Louisiana College to earn a 10-8 victory in college baseball action on Friday.
Cy-Fair High School graduate Jeremy Burke, a sophomore, scattered nine hits over 5 2/3 innings to earn the win for the YellowJackets. The 6-foot-5 right-hander struck out two batters en route to his fifth win of the season. Burke leads the team with five wins and a .833 win-loss percentage.
Burke graduated from Cy-Fair High School with A Honor Roll Honors. He chose LeTourneau over Mary Hardin-Baylor and Baylor.
Jeremy Aaron Burke was born June 30, 1989, and is the son of Nancy J. and Steven S. Burke.
Baytown Christian Academy graduate Chris Bertram went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Bertram, a freshman designated hitter, is third on the team, hitting .354 on the season.
Bertram lettered three years at Baytown Christian Academy. He was a member of his school's 16-2 District Championship team as a sophomore in 2007, and was named to the TAPPS All-State Tournament team at the conclusion of the season.
