Two Local HS alums lead TLU to sweep
Two local high school graduates helped the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs stretch their softball win streak to three games with a doubleheader sweep of American Southwest Conference opponent Schreiner on Friday. At Schreiner's Mountaineer Field, the Bulldogs took game one, 7-4, and game two, 4-0.
In game one, Cy Springs High School graduate Brittany Upton went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs.
In game two, Upton, a sophomore catcher, went 1-for-4.
Upton played at Cy Springs from 2005-2009. She was a four-time first-team All-District player. She is the daughter of Greg and Robin Wollin.
In game one, Katy Taylor High School graduate Nicole Hatley went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored.
In game two, Hatley, a senior shortstop, went 1-for-4 with two runs scored.
At Taylor, Hatley was a second-team All-District selection in 2006. The three-year letter winner played for Coach Billy Powell.
Nicole, a kinesiology major, is the daughter of Joe and Tina Hatley.
