Coach Lori Boyles is in her fourth season with Jersey Village, and so is senior outside hitter Amy Davault.
Davault has been a starter on the varsity since her freshman season, and she's an outstanding player and team leader," Boyles said. She's been with me every step of the way, and has really helped build the program. We're going to enjoy her senior season, and the positive influence she brings to the team, and of course, we'll really miss her when she graduates."
As a first-team all-district performer last year, Davault and several talented seniors helped the Lady Falcons tie for fourth place in an always tough District 15-5A (now 17-5A).
Jersey Village was edged out of a postseason berth in a five-game district playoff against Cy Creek.
The girls gave it all they had, and that's all you can really ask for," Boyles said.
Along with Davault (verbally committed to UT-Arlington), the Lady Falcons bring back another starter in junior Caitlyn Cooney, who can move effortlessly from hitter to middle blocker to libero.
We can plug her in wherever she's needed," Boyles said. That's how talented and versatile she is."
Jersey Village also brings back three lettermen in senior middle blocker-right side Kayla Huebel, junior OH-RS Courtney Jennings and junior RS Sarah Church.
Newcomers are senior defensive specialists Hillary Camp, Reena Kankaria and Jessica Preble, senior setter Carly Coen, junior DS Karly Huebel (Kayla's sister), junior OH Miranda Munchrath, junior MB Caitlin Farmer, junior RS Brooke Pohlmeyer, and freshman setter Maggie Smith.
Our new setters have stepped right in and haven't missed a beat," Boyles said, and Coen is an outstanding senior role model for Smith, and has really helped (Smith) adjust to the program.
In fact, all of our seniors have been incredible leaders."
Boyles also praises the dedication of junior varsity coach Leanne Grove, and freshman coaches Kathy Downing and Lisa Johnson.
I have an incredible coaching staff," Boyles said. The program wouldn't be what it is without them, and we make a great team."
The Lady Falcons continue their challenging schedule at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Klein, at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Tomball, and at the Spring Branch Memorial Tournament on Thursday and Saturday.
Jersey Village starts District 17-5A play hosting Cy Ranch at 6 p.m. on Aug. 24, and competes in the Pearland Nike Classic from Aug. 26-27.
