Two Local HS alums star in Southwestern double-header
Southwestern University closed up its softball season with a split, 7-0 and 4-6, with Millsaps on Sunday afternoon. Southwestern sits at 27-13 on the year and 13-3 in the conference, finishing in first place in the West.
Cy Creek High School graduate Kayla Irvin played and Spring High School graduate Kaitlyn Pavlicek very well Sunday.
Slow and steady was the name of the game through the opening innings of game one. Southwestern struck first scoring one run in the bottom of the first off of Kaitlyn Pavlicek's double.
After a quiet fourth and fifth Southwestern hit its stride, posting five runs in the sixth inning, thanks in large part to Pavlicek's three-run home run.
Pavlicek, a junior outfielder, exhibited pure domination at the plate with a four RBI, 4-4 performance in the game.
Pavlicek was a four year letter winner in softball for the Lions at Spring High School. She is the daughter of Greg and Laura Pavlicek. and is majoring in kinesiology at SU.
In game two, Cy Creek High School graduate Kayla Irvin went 3-4 at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI.
Irvin played at Cy Creek from 2006-2010, where she was a three-time All-District selection. She is the daughter of Fred and Mary Beth.
