Cy-Fair student selected for summer seminar at West Point
Virginia Bigelow, a junior at Cy-Fair High School, was recently accepted to West Point’s Summer Leaders Seminar (SLS).
The SLS, which takes place in June, offers high school juniors the opportunity to experience life at West Point. As an attendee, Bigelow will live in the cadet barracks and take part in academic, leadership, athletic and military workshops.
Bigelow will also participate in virtual-reality war simulation, and military and physical fitness training. In addition, he’ll be able to select three of the 15 workshops offered, which include Leadership and Ethics, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, History, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Human Behavior, Social Sciences, Geography/Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Legal Trial, Computer Applications and Programming, Foreign Language and English.
The one-week seminar is designed to help juniors with the college selection process, while giving them an idea of the importance of leadership and sound decision-making in their education, careers and lives.
