HS boys baseball preview: Cy Creek vs. Alief Taylor
Cy Creek will battle Alief Taylor in boys baseball action on Thursday.
"We have never been there before, so we will definitely enjoy the ride," Alief Taylor coach Mekele Brown said. "We have probably had the best practices of the (year), and it's exciting for me to see my kids not show fear for seeing the No. 1 seed out of Cy-Fair ISD.
"I know they will be really good but as they say: Any team can be beat on any given day. So we will expect their best and prepare like we belong."
"I will hopefully throw someone at them that will keep them off balance," Brown said. "They love the fastball and will crush it if you dare throw it."
"I have been preparing my underclassmen for the next step in our program's development by talking to them about what this means for them, the school and the community," Brown said. "Making the playoffs was the goal of our seniors that have basically been with me since I took over three years ago. So they are the foundation of a program trying to search for an identity. However, this group of players are something really special."
Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Cy Creek.
Cy Creek has a 21-7 record on the season and is 15-2 in district play. On Friday, Cy Creek beat Cy-Fair, 5-2, as Matt Sinclair belted two homers.
Taylor is 14-12 on the year and 5-7 in district. On Friday, Taylor beat Aldine, 13-3.
After Thursday’s game, the two teams meet again on Friday.
