HS boys baseball preview: Jersey Village vs. Hastings
Jersey Village will battle Hastings in boys baseball action on Thursday.
Hastings won the flip and will host two out of three games, should the series be extended to Saturday.
"We've had a long layoff between starts for two of our starters, but I think the rest was needed," Jensen said. "I've decided on a rotation but I won't tip my hand until game time. Our players feel confident behind all 3 of the starters we could put out there."
"We're extremely excited about making the playoffs for the first time in 11 years, but we'd certainly like to stay here a while," Jensen said.
"We are excited to be in the playoffs for the second year in a row," Hastings coach Chad Needham said. "Jersey Village is a very solid team. They play great defense and throw strikes."
"This district’s 4-seed could easily contend for a district championship in a lot of the other districts in our area," Needham said. "We will have to do what we’ve done all year to be successful. Play good defense and get a few big hits at the right time."
Needham said clinching the district championship early allowed him to set up his pitching for the playoffs.
Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hastings.
Jersey Village is 14-10 on the year and 11-6 in district. On Friday, Jersey Village beat Cy Woods, 7-0.
Hastings has a 19-6-1 record on the season and is 12-0 in district play. On Friday, Hastings beat Eisenhower, 1-0.
After Thursday’s game, the two teams will meet again on Friday.
