Cy-Fair HS grad Caleb Ramsey leads Houston past Central Florida
Cy-Fair High School graduate Caleb Ramsey sparked Houston Cougars baseball toward a 5-3 win over Central Florida on Sunday.
Ramsey led the team at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance, scoring two runs with a double.
With the win, Houston wins the series 2-1 and improves to 22-23 overall and 9-6 in Conference USA action. The Cougars also move in to a tie for second place with the Rice Owls in the C-USA standings.
A 2007 graduate of Cy-Fair High School, Ramsey played baseball for Coach Woody Champagne. During his senior season (2006-2007) he was a member of the Texas 5A State Championship winning team batting .475 with nine RBIs in the state playoffs including three-for-eight with five runs knocked in during the final two games of the postseason. Overall he batted .359 with 25 RBIs and 12 stolen bases on the season while helping Cy-Fair to a 32-7 record, which included a 27-game winning streak. He was a selected to the state All-Tournament team and was once named the athlete of the week by the Houston Chronicle. Ramsey was selected to the Houston 5A Baseball All-Greater Houston second team. He also played wide receiver on the school's football team and was an All-District 17-5A performer.
The son of Jamie and Steve Ramsey, he is a business management major.
