Cy-Fair grad Jonathan Ogden blasts 8th home run for Mississippi State
Cy-Fair High School graduate Jonathan Ogden had a great game, but a six-run first inning removed all doubt early as Mississippi State saw its eight-game win streak snapped with a 12-3 loss to Ole Miss in a Southeastern Conference baseball game played Saturday night at Oxford University Stadium.
Ogden crushed his 8th home run of the season as he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI on his solo-shot.
At Cy-Fair High School, Ogden was a two-year starting infielder for coach Woody Champagne. As a senior, 2006-2007, he notched 36 hits, including 19 doubles, two triples and 11 home runs, while stealing 16 bases in 19 attempts to help Cy-Fair to 32 wins and a state title. Ogden earned all-tournament team honors at shortstop. He played summer bases for the Houston Sting, coached by Charlie Hayes. Prior to Mississippi State, Ogden played two seasons at Blinn College. Born July 15, 1988, in Houston, the son of Joanne and Steve Ogden is majoring in business administration.
