Free June LIFE workshops add fun to summer learning
Lone Star College-CyFair (LSC-CyFair) will hold workshops in June offering tips for good books, healthful supplements, royal weddings and dances.
LSC-CyFair’s “Learning, Inspiration, Fellowship, and Enrichment” (L.I.F.E.) programs are free and held Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the library.
On June 1, “Great New Summer Reads” will tell people what new titles are hot and how to find just the right book to read. Blue Willow Book Shop owner Valerie Koehler will preside over the class. People can sign up for the library’s Summer Reading Program and join the Book Hunters with Susan Green.
On June 8, Dr. Chase Hayden of the Hayden Institute will present “The Miracle of Omega 3’s.” He will reveal how Omega 3’s are essential fatty acids for cardiovascular, brain, immune and hormone health.
On June 15, Kristina Carrillo-Bucaram, organizer of the co-op Rawfully Organic, will tell people about eating local, raw and organic produce in her “Eat it Raw!” presentation. Carrillo-Bucaram will bring a share of produce and will concoct some healthful dishes for everyone to try.
On June 22, “Royal Wedding Madness” will give all the scoop on Prince William and Kate Middleton. People will learn about some romantic and exotic nuptials of royals past and present with Jo Tubbs.
And on June 29, “What’s a Wobble?” will help people get in shape and have fun by doing group dances such as the Wedding Wobble, the Electric Slide and the YMCA. Tabby and Shannen Pritts will lead the class.
LSC-CyFair is located at 9191 Barker Cypress.
