Local toastmasters group changes name

The Speakers Connection Toastmasters club recently voted to change the name of its club to Speakers Connection.

The membership believes the new name better reflects the club and its goals to provide support to individuals seeking to improve communication and leadership skills in their everyday life in an atmosphere of helpfulness and friendliness.

Additionally, one of its long-standing members, John Shults, was recently awarded the Bert Mann Spirit of Success Award at the Toastmasters District 56 meeting. The award is given to a District 56 Toastmaster who exemplifies unselfish service year after year on behalf of Toastmasters. Shults has been a toastmaster for 60 years and served in various officer positions and was a director on the board.

The Speakers Connection Toastmasters club meets at Jersey Village Baptist Church, in Room C-105 on Rio Grande Drive, at 7:15 p.m. every Thursday.
