Former Cy Woods player signs with Pirates

Former Cy Woods standout Jared Lakind signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this week. Lakind was drafted by the Pirates in the 25th round and had committed to play for the University of Arkansas had he not made a deal with the Pirates. Instead, he'll start his professional career at the Gulf Coast League Pirates.
According to a press release on the Pirates website, Lakind was ranked No. 69 in the country, and No. 9 in Texas, in the 2010 Perfect Games rankings of the Top 500 High School Prospects.
