Cy Woods grad Jared Lakind scores two for GCL Pirates

Cy Woods High School graduate Jared Lakind scored two runs and drew a walk as the Gulf Coast League (GCL) Pirates beat the GCL Blue Jays, 10-7, Wednesday.

The season is only two-days old and Lakind is still looking for his first hit, even though he scored two key runs Wednesday.

Lakind is a 2010 graduate of Cy Woods High School. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 23rd round (687th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft.

Lakind signed his first professional contract on Aug. 16, 2010, and began his pro career with the Pirates rookie team in the GCL. Lakind was born March 9, 1992, in Cypress.
