Langham Creek High School graduate Steven Hill blasted two home runs Thursday, both solo-shots, but the Springfield Cardinals lost 13-3 to the Arkansas Travelers.

The home runs were number 11 and 12 on the season for Hill, a designated hitter, who is batting .282 with 26 RBIs.

Hill is a 2003 graduate of Langham Creek High School. He attended San Jacinto College and Eastfield College before playing two seasons (2006 and 2007) of Division I collegiate baseball at Stephen F. Austin. He appeared in 112 games over those two seasons at SFA, batting .367 with 38 home runs and 117 RBIs. As a senior (2007), he batted .385 with 24 homers and 73 RBIs.

Hill was drafted in the 13th round (412nd overall) of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft by St. Louis. Through 2010 Hill appeared in 370 games in the Cardinals' organization, advancing through the system to triple-A Memphis of the Pacific Coast League. He is a career .287 minor league hitter with 72 home runs and 259 RBIs. He made his Major League debut with the Cardinals on Aug. 15, 2010, and belted a solo home run for his first big-league hit. Hill was born March 14, 1985, in Houston.
