Cy Woods HS grad Jared Lakind jumps in on GCL Pirates slugfest

Cy Woods High School graduate Jared Lakind went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk as the Gulf Coast League (GCL) Pirates beat the GCL Yankees, 14-11, Thursday.

Lakind is a 2010 graduate of Cy Woods High School. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 23rd round (687th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft.

Lakind signed his first professional contract on Aug. 16, 2010, and began his pro career with the Pirates' rookie team of the GCL. He made 14 at-bats over four games recording three hits, including one double and one home run, for a .214 average.
