Bayou Land Conservancy to host canoe trip, trail-blazing project
The Bayou Land Conservancy is offering opportunities to both help clean up the Bayou and take a guided canoe trip.
The cleanup initiative will include a walk down the trails of the 4.3-acre Mussel Pond Preserve in order to clean and help preserve the area. The walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, and lasts until 11 a.m.
The preservation group is also offering a canoe event at Spring Creek two weeks from the cleanup event. Gathering at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, at the Jones Nature Center, the group will offer a guided canoe trip down Spring Creek, concluding with an ice cream social. Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided. Registration is free for members, and the event is open to all 16 or older.
The Bayou Land Conservancy seeks to preserve and protect the bayous in the Greater Houston region through cleanup efforts and land preservation agreements.
