LSC-CyFair to stage musical comedy 'Hairspray'
LSC-CyFair will premiere its interpretation of the musical comedy “Hairspray” July 14 at The Country Playhouse Theatre.
Lone Star College-CyFair, in a partnership with The Country Playhouse Theatre, will stage “Hairspray,” based on John Water’s new cinema comedy, from July 14 through July 30 at The Country Playhouse Theatre and again from Aug. 5 through Aug. 14 at LSC-Cy-Fair.
The musical, set in Baltimore in the 1960s, follows Tracy Turnblad as she wins a coveted spot on the local TV dance program "The Corny Collins Show" and becomes a teen idol overnight. Now a part of the "in crowd," Tracy quickly becomes a trend-setter and uses her popularity to help change the show's segregation policy, according to the press release. The show also contains material not suitable for young children.
