Cy-Woods HS grad Jared Lakind has killer game for GCL Pirates
Cy-Woods High School graduate Jared Lakind went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs as the Gulf Coast League Pirates beat the GCL Tigers 11-7 Thursday.
Lakind is a 2010 graduate of Cy-Woods High School and was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 23rd round (687th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft.
Lakind signed his first professional contract on Aug. 16, 2010 and began his pro career with the Pirates' rookie team in the Gulf Coast League. He made 14 at-bats over four games recording three hits, including one double and one home run, for a .214 batting average.
